Ready or not, Obama takes on the world(0)
Change is coming to Europe - as in, for the first time in years, more Europeans than not are actually excited about the visit of a high profile U.S. politician. According to the AFP, if western Europeans were to choose between Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain, Obama would win in a landslide. Obama scores as high as 67 percent in Germany, while McCain is favored by just six percent in the same country.
G8 leaders discuss food crisis over 18 course meal
President Bush and other leaders from the world’s eight most powerful countries yesterday met in Japan to discuss ways in which to address the global food crisis.
Then, they and their spouses enjoyed an 18 course meal.
McCain looks vulnerable as red states cool
Traditional red states that voted mostly overwhelmingly for Bush in 2004 are now swinging toward Obama in 2008, a serious threat to McCain, who can’t afford to lose the Republican base.
THE OTHER WAR
As the “surge” appears to be paying dividends in Iraq, military and civilian analysts alike are beginning to wonder: is “The Other War,” Afghanistan, at the breaking point? Only weeks ago, the Indian Embassy in Kabul was reported blown up by a suicide car bomber. 41 were killed instantly, another 130 injured - the deadliest such incident since the Oct. 2001 invasion.
