The Twilight Series: Is it over yet?

Girls crying. People screaming. And lots of biting.
If you think this is a scene from a horror film, well, you’re wrong.
It’s just the Twilight pandemonium.
As I go about my daily rituals, I notice that the Twilight obsession, inflicted on both young teens and adult woman, has not slowed down by any means. If anything, it has gotten worse.
But why? What’s so great about the books and movies?
Perhaps it’s Robert Pattinson’s dreamy looks, or the stares of lust that his character, Edward, and Bella, played by Kristen Stewart, share. Or maybe it’s the fact that people simply need something to obsess about in today’s world.
Whatever it is, honestly, the Twilight series is nothing to jump for joy over. Yet everywhere I turn, more and more Twilight paraphernalia is available for readers and movie-viewers alike to purchase.
Target, similar to many other stores, introduced a Twilight clothing line. Nordstrom currently sells cardboard cutouts of Pattinson’s character, Edward, “that can be with you until eternity,” according to their website. Customers can also buy New Moon inspired jewelry or “Team Edward” fashion tees to show their support for the male lead in the film.
As the Harry Potter series comes to a close, Twilight clearly has replaced its position. However, the Harry Potter phenomenon was drawn out within a number of years, so it did not overwhelm society members.
Yes, people wore capes, put lighning bolts on their heads, and utlized the magic wands. While I never reached that extreme, I do acknowlege what it’s like to be a fan. I read the books and have seen all of the movies multiple times.
However, while it’s understandable that people can be fans of the Twilight series, there reaches a point where one should be ashamed of their fixation. When mature, adult women turn to mush over a vampire and state that they are going to marry him, things have simply gotten out of hand.
What can be done about the situation? Good question. I think we all need to relax. As obnoxious as the series is, the hoopla will soon die down. Once that happens, I think marketers, producers and viewers alike are going to be disappointed when the Twilight series loses it steam.
So what’s the moral of the story? Watch what you say and how you act about Twilight. You don’t want to be known as the crazy Twilight fan that ended up in jail.

I think that there should be a theoretical fight between Hermoine Granger and Bella (Lastname?). Obviously Hermoine would win because of her sweet magical skills, so she would have to not use them. So, this fight must be a muggle brawl or a good old fashion girl cat fight. Even if Edward tried to step in to protect his beloved Bella, Ron would easily destroy Edward with a simple stunning spell or some other creative, fancy spell. Then if Edward is taken out by Ron, then Jacob would have to come in picture to fend off both Hermoine and Ron to protect Bella. Here is the complicated issue, do you put Harry into the equation now or let another werewolf, Remus Lupin, take out Jacob? I’ll let you decide.
