In growing rumors circling the NBA, Stephon Marbury is considering attempting to join the Detroit Pistons in the future. After a recent game against the New York Knicks, Piston coach Flip Saunders talked to Marbury for 10 minutes, mainly about their former times with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The rumors were initiated when Flip referenced coaching Marbury in the future, though there has been no announcement from Joe Dumars, the Piston’s general manager, of Detroit pursuing this.
The potential joining won’t happen for some time though. New York owes 22 million to Marbury for next year, with the Pistons unwilling to pick up the check.
Detroit has been known as a team of misfits, taking in talented, yet troubled, players in the past, most recently with Rasheed Wallace. Stephon Marbury might be a risky and unnecessary addition to the team though.
Chauncey Billups, the former NBA finals MVP, is doing a fantastic job at starting point guard and rookie Rodney Stuckey doing a fine job coming off the bench.
Let’s leave New York to clean up their own mess. Speaking of New York messes, here is a humorous clip from the New York Knicks (please don’t try this at home).
